Altadis Foundation

The Altadis Foundation was created in 1992 and is registered with the Spanish Ministry of Culture. Its purpose has been to promote, foster and disseminate culture, art, and scientific and technical research, particularly in relation to tobacco. It has a commitment to opening minds, recognising others and nurturing diversity and focuses on national and regional cultural events, and facilitating public debate on current social issues.

The Altadis Group was formed in 1999 following the merger of the Spanish company Tabacalera and the French company SEITA. The Plastics Art Prize has been used since that time to support artists from the two countries. Each year, 20 artists are put forward by French and Spanish art advisors. Three prize winners are selected from each country to receive financial support and the exhibition of their work in Paris and Madrid.

The Foundation also has a wide spectrum of community activities which it supports both directly and through other foundations, such as the Spanish Foundation for Victims of Terrorism and the Carolina Foundation. The latter promotes a cultural relationship and general cooperation in educational and scientific areas, between Spain and Latin America.
